Frank Bavaro passed away at his home in Escalon on February 28, 2016 at the age of 85. Frank was born on April 23, 1930 to Nicola and Maria Bavaro in Bitritto, Bari, Italy. He has been a resident of Escalon for the past 62 years.
After high school, Frank served in the US Army until 1953. After his service in the military Frank began farming. He farmed his almonds, peaches, walnuts and grapes. Frank was a member of the Escalon Lions Club and was a founding member of Our Lady of Constantinople. Frank also enjoyed playing cards with his friends, dancing and drinking his homemade wine and visiting the ocean.
Frank leaves behind children, Mary Heyward (Bavaro), and Nick Bavaro and wife, Irma; the mother of his children, Dolores Bavaro; his grandchildren, Francesca Heyward, Frank Heyward, Michael Heyward, Samantha Bavaro, Frankie Bavaro, Nicole Meier and husband Shane and his great grandchildren, Remington Meier and Wyatt Meier. Frank is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary C Bavaro and his son, Frank Bavaro Jr.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deegan Funeral Chapel. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Chapel in Escalon. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Remembrances in Frank’s name may be made to the Escalon Ambulance.
