Gary Joseph Augusto peacefully passed away June 13, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born April 28, 1941 in Modesto, CA to parents Peter and Rose Augusto. He was raised on a dairy farm in Escalon and resided there until his passing. In 1961, Gary married Shirley Silva and they began their wonderful life together. For 12 years, he was the Fire Chief for Escalon Fire Department and enjoyed helping his community. Gary was a Mechanic by trade, an avid hunter and trap shooter. He was a member of the Escalon Sportsman’s Club and taught hunter safety classes for 15 years. He loved his family and friends, both old and young. Gary was a pillar of the Escalon community, a true Escalonian; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived by his children, Carri Rogers (Charlie) of Yelm, WA and Brian Augusto of Escalon; his grandchildren, Lilly Augusto, Cassidy Augusto both of Philomath, OR, Chuck Rogers and Corey Rogers both of Yelm, WA and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Augusto; his brother, Peter Augusto, Jr. along with his parents, Peter and Rose Augusto.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Augusto family. A Memorial service was held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon, CA 95320 followed by a Celebration of Life at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club at 25195 E. River Road, Escalon, CA 95320. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Seva Hospice and Escalon Ambulance.
