JIM BORDEN
June 4, 1946 – Feb. 3, 2025
Jim Borden

Edward James (Jim) Borden passed away at age 78 on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Escalon, California. Born on June 4, 1946, Jim was known for his strong, outgoing personality. He made friends everywhere he went, and would have a conversation with anyone willing to listen to him. Jim had an incredible ability to leave a mark on everyone he met, a true reflection of his generous spirit and enormous heart.

Jim was a devout family man and the rock of our family. He would always show up to his grandkids’ many activities and loved being with his family as much as possible even if it was for a quick phone chat.

Jim was born in Escalon, CA and grew up and lived in the same 2.5 square miles. After graduating from Escalon High School, Jim joined the United States Air Force. Jim was stationed in Fresno as a jet aircraft specialist where he was known for his “appearance and morals being above reproach” and was a “supervisor’s image of a perfect airman.” Jim served in Vietnam and then returned to Fresno to finish his contract.

Jim moved back to Escalon where he met and married his beloved wife Nancy of 51 years. He worked for Hogan Manufacturing Inc. before changing careers to farm rice for Green Farms. In Jim’s free time, he loved fly fishing, bass fishing, and playing golf.

Jim is survived by his wife Nancy Borden, his sister Patricia Lenci, his daughter Brooke McGovern (Shaun McGovern), his son Cody Borden (Karey Borden), and his grandkids Kaycee Borden, Olivia McGovern, Emma Borden, Cora McGovern, and Cooper McGovern. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Elsie Cunha, his brother Rick Borden, and brother-in-law Ronald Lenci.
