Juanita “Nita” Christina Baker went home to the Lord on October 22, 2023, at the age of 90 in Escalon, CA. Nita was born August 27, 1933, at the Robertson Hospital in Modesto, CA to parents, Anthony and Annie Alves. Nita grew up in Modesto and attended Roosevelt Elementary and Modesto High School. Nita’s first job in high school was working at the Ceres Drive-In. During her time in high school, Nita met Ronald Baker and married him after he returned from the Korean War in 1952. Nita and Ron had two children, Paula and Ron Jr.

Nita enjoyed dancing, camping with her friends and family, and gathering around the table to share a delicious meal on special holidays. She loved going to all her grandkids sporting events, rain or shine she was there! Unless there was a big Bingo game going on then, you would find her and her best friends, Jane and Mary Ann at Bingo.

Nita is survived by her children, Paula Rolfe (Gary) of Groveland, CA and Ron Baker (Kim) of Escalon; grandchildren, Brian Fisher, Kimberly Dauth, Zac Baker and Brody Baker; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Dahlinger, Derek Dahlinger, Katelyn Walker and John Dauth; great-great grandchildren, Theo, Peyton, Eli, Willow and Rowan. She is also survived by her siblings, Donald and Jacqueline Alves, Thresa Wheaton, Linda Cagle, Anthony Alves, Paul and Linda Alves and Joneda Park. Nita is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ronald Baker; her siblings, Delores Truitt, Gloria Avila, Annette Wheeler, Constance Schoen, Maxine Lindsay and James Alves.
