Marion Elizabeth Weimer Heurlin passed from this life on Thursday, July 22, in Chico, CA after a long and protracted illness. Born in Taft, CA on June 16, 1924, her early years were spent on farms in Modesto and Valley Home, a small country community near Oakdale. She met her husband at Escalon High School where they sang together in operettas. She was a freshman and he was a senior and he was the love of her life for 43 years. They married in 1943 and she lived in Escalon for the rest of her life with a brief stay in assisted living in Modesto, until it was necessary to move her closer to family in Chico, CA.
Before retiring she worked for several years as a court clerk in the justice court system in San Joaquin County. She was a working wife and mother long before that became the norm.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Wood and son-in-law, Allen; granddaughters, Erica Wood and husband, Jesse Farnsworth, and Krista Mayor and husband, Karl Mayor. She has four great-granddaughters, Paloma Farnsworth, Francesca, Rose, and Vivienne Mayor. Both families live in San Mateo and Half Moon Bay respectively. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Vena Weimer; her four brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Stanley and Frank Weimer and her husband, Paul, who died in 1999.
Marion was a long-time member of Saron Lutheran Church in Escalon where she sang in the choir, served on numerous committees and was always happy to share her incredible cooking and decorating talents. She loved flowers, interesting antique finds, good books, good friends and most of all, her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a visitation at Deegan Funeral Chapel from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, July 30 followed by a funeral service at Saron Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Burwood Cemetery. Donations can be made to Butte Home, Health, and Hospice in Chico, CA.
