In Loving Memory of

NINETTE CHRYSTINE “CHRYS” COPP

Chrys Copp departed this world on June 3, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on February 17, 1948, in San Francisco to Nina and Paul Ennor, her family later moved to Lafayette, CA, where Chrys graduated from Del Valle High School in 1964. In 1968, Chrys graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science from the University of the Pacific. While studying at UOP, Chrys met her husband, Hal Copp (PharmD, UOP ’70). In 1974, Chrys and Hal made their home in Oakdale, CA.

Chrys worked as a medical technologist for 20 years, 15 of them at Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale. In 1988, Chrys embarked on a new career as owner/operator of a successful chain of Hallmark Gold Crown stores across the Central Valley and Sacramento region for over 25 years. Chrys was well-respected within the Hallmark organization and served multiple terms on the Hallmark Gold Crown Advisory Board.

Chrys was a pillar of the Oakdale community. She was active in the Oak Valley District Hospital Foundation and served as its president in 1989. An ardent supporter of public education, she served as the Oakdale Junior High School Parent-Teacher Club President and organized seminars on the prevention of adolescent substance abuse. In 1987, the California Teachers Association awarded Chrys the School Bell Award for her significant contribution to education in Stanislaus County.

Chrys was an adventurous spirit with an unwavering curiosity and deep thirst for knowledge, who loved to explore and embrace every opportunity for discovery. Whether traversing distant lands or enjoying a local Sunday drive, Chrys found joy in the beauty of the world and derived great satisfaction from new experiences and new people. An avid reader and a brilliant mind, Chrys was inspired by good books and stimulating conversation. There wasn’t an animal she didn’t love or want to rescue, nor a plant or flower she couldn’t name. Her inquisitive mind and love of learning were remarkable and positively influenced those around her.

Chrys cherished every moment spent with family and friends. She was a connector; making great efforts to create special memories for family and friends. Her infectious smile, insatiable curiosity, adventurous spirit, and boundless generosity touched numerous lives, and her warmth and empathy left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to cross her path.

Chrys is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold “Hal” Copp; daughters, Hillary Copp (Kelly Cordoro) and Whitney (Jon) Kesterson; granddaughters, Kylie, Kelsie, and Kinley Kesterson; sister, Sara Ennor (Jim Vlantis); brother, Ken Ennor; sister-in-law, Beverly (Tom) Barham. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Paul.

Services will be held on June 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Saint Matthias Anglican Church, 107 S. First Ave., Oakdale, CA. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Reata on 3rd, 160 N. Third Ave., Oakdale, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either the Alexander Cohen Community Hospice House or the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, in honor of Chrys’s lifelong commitment to knowledge and discovery and her dedication to helping others.
