Richard J. Brooks, 72, of Oakdale died Sunday, Aug. 15 at his home.
Born in Ripon, he had lived in Oakdale for 44 years. He was self-employed in custom harvest and loved to work and build on his bus conversion. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oakdale.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Beatrice Brooks of Oakdale; children, Denise Boyd and Valerie Rogers of Ceres, Toni Lopez of Modesto, Frank Vierra and Frances Krieger of Oakdale and Billie Benedix of Valley Home; siblings, Lyle Brooks of Ripon, Barbara Pecil of Norfolk, Virginia, Joann Parks of Stockton and Janet Vierra of Madera; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Marie Brooks.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Deegan Chapel in Escalon. Rosary will be at Deegan Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. Mass will be said on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oakdale.
Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in Escalon at 3 p.m. Thursday.
