Todd D. Austin, 66, died of lung cancer on Thursday, Jan. 5 at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto.
Born on May 1, 1945, he loved all people and animals. He enjoyed his birds, dogs, and riding his horse. He loved being with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and western movies. He was the kind of man who accepted you as you were. He stayed true to himself, living his life the way he thought it should be lived.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Gerry Austin of Escalon; children Karin Gonzales of San Leandro, Genny Biffaretti of Los Molinos, Robert Cain-Austin of Jackson and Glenn Himmelsbach of Jackson; grandchildren Johnny Gonzales of San Jose, Mikey Gonzales of San Leandro, Francine Hoofard of Gerber, Christina Biffaretti of Red Bluff, Julianne Biffaretti of Los Molinos; great granddaughter Allison Hoofard of Gerber; as well as his nephew Glen Austin of San Ramon and his niece Robin Austin of Menlo Park.
At his request, no services will be held.
A tribute will be given by the American Legion and the American Legion Riders at a later date.
In loving memory, donations may be made to the Veterans Administration Hospital Hospice Unit, Palo Alto.
