He attended Escalon High School where he was an outstanding athlete. While he attended school, he worked for his Uncle Tony Lial on his farm growing hay, beans, watermelons, and other crops. In 1955 Victor’s high school sweetheart Glenda Joye Light’s family moved to southern California. He followed her there and they were married in March 1955. He found a job at Bank of America as a teller, and he worked his way up to Bank Manager; a career that spanned 37 years. They lived in southern California for 22 years raising two sons Gordon and Jeff. In 1979 the bank transferred him to a bank in Stockton. The family moved to Escalon, building a new house where they lived for 37 years.
Victor worked as a businessman during the week, but on the weekends and vacations he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling with his family to hunt in California and other western states and to fish in Alaska. In retirement Victor and Glenda enjoyed traveling in their RVs and going fishing together. He was a longtime member of the Escalon Sportsman’s Club and was a past president of the club. He was a lifelong member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and was very active in the church after he moved back to Escalon. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed.
