Dear Editor,
I want to take a minute to thank two groups that were so helpful to our family during the recent passing of my mother, Louetta Murken. This started at Thanksgiving of 2023. Mom had congestive heart failure and ended up in the hospital over the Thanksgiving holidays. Doctors gave her two weeks to live and suggested a care facility and hospice for her final days. They put us in contact with SEVA Hospice and Brenda’s Place. SEVA Hospice initially started visits a couple days a week. They supplied all her medial needs while Brenda’s Place provided 24-hour care at their Escalon location. To our surprise, mom gained strength over the next month through the care she received and was able to return to her home with continued SEVA Hospice visits.
This continued until the end of July when we noticed her start to decline. SEVA Hospice upped the visits to three days a week and then to every day. As mom lost strength, it became obvious that she would need 24-hour care again. Luckily Brenda’s Place had an opening. Up until her death on August 17th, she continued to receive excellent and loving care from both SEVA Hospice and Brenda’s Place.
If you are in a position of caring for an elderly relative and it gets beyond normal needs, I suggest you contact SEVA Hospice and Brenda’s Place for excellent and loving care. We were able to be with mom for an additional seven months with their assistance.
