Several teams are getting in practices and preseason action, as the spring sports season is officially underway.
For Escalon, the spring sports include co-ed tennis, co-ed track and field, boys golf, softball, baseball and, a new offering this school year, boys volleyball.
As in most years, the sports teams – with the exception this season of volleyball – often have to dodge raindrops in the early going, but have been able to get in some early season contests.
Tennis players were in action on Friday, March 1 in nearby Riverbank for the annual Riverbank Doubles Tournament. They play at Ripon Christian on Thursday, March 7 and will be at Livingston on Friday, March 8.

The golf boys were to travel to play Venture Academy at Elkhorn Golf and Country Club for non-league action on March 6 and open up league play against Hughson at River Oaks on Thursday, March 14.

They will be on the home court Wednesday, March 6 hosting Orestimba, travel to Waterford on March 7 and go to Gustine on March 12 before hosting Sierra on March 13 and Ripon Christan to round out the preseason on Thursday, March 14. Hilmar, Livingston, Riverbank, Ripon and Escalon will do battle in the TVL for boys volleyball this season.
