Divisional Tournament Closes Out Lady Cougar Golf Season
CASAZZA 11/8
GENEVIEVE CASAZZA

Escalon’s Genevieve Casazza represented the Lady Cougars in the Division 5 Golf Tournament, hosted at Manteca Park Golf Course at the end of October.

“There were close to 100 golfers at the tournament, and Genevieve finished 30th,” said head coach Chris Casazza. “There were teams that qualified for the tournament from the different leagues that feed into Division 5. And then there were girls that qualified for the tournament as individuals, which is how Genevieve qualified.”

The coach noted there were teams from as far north as Roseville and as far south as toward Fresno competing, as well as foothill squads.

“I was happy that Escalon was represented at a higher level golf tournament,” Casazza said. “It was a little extra special for me because the golfer representing Escalon happened to be my own daughter. We had a special day together. I was so proud of Geneivieve and how she competed and conducted herself.”

The coach said there was a “much more serious feeling” among the girls at this tournament, as well as an overall higher caliber of play.

Argonaut beat Ripon by three strokes to move on as a team from the Division competition, and a few girls qualified to move on to the next event as well.

“The tournament was well organized and highly professional,” said Casazza. “It was a special day for each golfer there, and I felt privileged to be a part of it. Considering the caliber of golfers that were at the tournament, I think Genevieve’s finish was very respectable.”
