Bowling for the season has wrapped up on the lanes at McHenry Bowl in Modesto for members of the El Portal bowling league, with Memorial Splitting Headaches taking first place honors overall.
Second place went to the Car Wash squad and members of the top two teams included, for Memorial Splitting Headaches, Chris Magana, Ali Hill and Tami Tomaino and for Car Wash, Joann Veenstra, Sherry Knox and Bea Johnson.
During the final week of the season, Memorial went 46.5-21.5 to take the top spot, followed by Escalon Body & Frame, 41.5-26.5. Next came Car Wash, 40-28; Better Late Than Never, 39-29; Pasma Brothers, 38-30; Big By Market, 37.5-30.5; The Oakdale Gals, 37-31; JRB's Girls, 36.5-31.5; Borba Dairy, 29.5-38.5; The Grandmas, 28.5-39.5; Bonelli Ranch, 27.5-40.5; Bartelink Dairy, 27-41; Luis Dairy, 25.5-42.5; The 10 Pins, 14-54.
Scratch game for the week went to Nancy McKeague, 223. She also had the scratch series, 561. Handicap game honors went to Tami Tomaino, 260 and Ginger Serpa took the handicap series, 670.
"Our new season will start Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. for a meeting, 10 a.m. for bowling at McHenry Bowl," said coordinator Janice Alcantor. "This season El Portal Bowling League raised $2260 for Science Camp for our sixth graders at El Portal Middle School."
Along with the team honors to close out the season, several bowlers were recognized for individual achievements as well.
Connie Johnson was the high scratch game winner, 222; Ginger Serpa, high handicap game, 281; Mary Pacheco, high handicap series, 698; with Nancy McKeague earning both the high scratch series honors at 601 and the high average award at 166.
