Escalon Wrestling Club sent 20 young wrestlers to the Hughson meet on Sunday, Dec. 1, coming home with 10 medals and five champions.
In Session I - continuing to improve each week and taking home runner up honors were Mason Birdsong, Kaleb Butler and Jimmy Mc Dowell. Bringing EWC home gold looing impressive were Julian Cruz at his first tournament and Jimmy McDowell looking tough every time out.
In Session II - Continuing to get better and wrestling hard taking runner up honors home were Noah Dooley and Conner McDowell. Continuing to work hard and looking great taking home golds were Ethan Butler and winning two weight classes was Daulton Shinn.
“The team is young, but they are working hard, having fun, getting better each time out,” stated coach Derek Scott.
Coaching the tournament were Carlos Uriate, Clinton Sizuela and coach Scott.

“With many out of town we brought a small group of nine to the first state ranking tournament of the year,” Scott said of the Nov. 24 event.
Looking tough just missing out on medaling were Houston Sizuela and Beau Morgan. Bringing home a title in the beginner division was the tenacious Ethan Butler, earning his second title in two weeks. Also looking good earning state points were Conner McDowell taking third in the 11-12 year old division. Also looking determined in the 9-10 year old division was the fighting Daulton Shinn. Quickly rounding into impressive form was Noah Dooley, bringing EWC home the gold in the 9-10 year old division.
