Flag Football Wraps Up WAC Play With 6-1 Mark
Cougars

Finishing their inaugural regular season strong, it was a convincing 24-12 victory over the Pacheco Panthers for Escalon’s varsity flag football girls.

The win saw them improve to 19-4 overall and 6-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.

That impressive run in the WAC earned the Lady Cougars the number one seed in the Division 2 bracket for the playoffs.

“Hannah Wampler had a rushing touchdown as well as a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown, only adding to the week she will never forget,” head coach Steve Largent said, as Wampler was named as the 2023 Homecoming Queen on Friday night, Oct. 20 at the Escalon High School Homecoming.

The game at Pacheco also saw plenty of other players getting in on the action.

“Sammy Lang and Violette Kent connected on a deep ball for a 60-yard touchdown on our first offensive play of the game to really set the tone,” explained Largent. “Alyssa Ball added eight tackles.”

The top seed in D2 granted Escalon home field advantage in the playoffs; they were scheduled to open up on Tuesday, Oct, 24 at Engel Field hosting Millennium High School.
