One week after hosting its largest and most successful tournament to date, the Escalon Wrestling Club, EWC, competed at Linden High School in the Linden Wrestling Club’s annual SCWAY Zone 2-3 tournament on Sunday, Jan. 15.

“We had 37 registered for the tournament and at least 24 of them placed while we had three of our kids compete at a tournament in Selma with one medaling as well,” stated EWC President Derek Scott. “We had some of our newer kids wrestle who didn’t place but continue to improve and work hard.”

There were medal winners in multiple places for the Escalon Wrestling Club at Linden. Names are spelled as provided.

Champions included: Vince Reis, Luca Cerasi, Xander Birakos and Jamin Miller.

Silver medalists were: Noah Dooley, Logan Dooley, Talan Reider, Luke Bates, Preston Berhorst, Luis Garcia, Anthony Jones, Christian Rowe, Malachi Coble, Tyler Vesper, Josie Lopez, Matthew Freeseha, Thomas Rowe, Ryker Lial, Frank Rodriguez, Nico Birakos and Sebastian Snow.

Bronze medalists were: Aaron Quiroz and Gideon Gerber (Selma New Year’s Bash).

Next up for the EWC is the Mother Lode Mania TOC, Tournament of Champions, Qualifying SCWAY tournament at Summerville High School in Tuolumne City on Sunday, Jan. 22.
