With a pair of straight set wins, the JV Lady Cougar volleyball team quickly dispatched opponents Manteca and Summerville in non-league play this week.
They were at home Monday hosting Summerville and topped the Bears by scores of 25-10, 25-6.
Carly Johnson had six service points, including four aces, along with one kill and two blocks in the match. Amanda Santini added two kills, while Megan Brown added five aces, one kill and one block. Jennifer Costa notched two blocks, Courtney Russell had one kill.
"We didn't really struggle with them, this was a pretty easy win," said coach Irene Laugero.
The girls traveled to Manteca on Tuesday and had a little bit more competition but still came away with a 25-19, 25-10 win.
"Carmen Dollarhide did an excellent job serving, she was the key," Laugero said. "She had seven service points, three of them were aces."
Johnson had three kills, Brown added four, with Mallory Rose, Costa and Russell each getting one kill.
Santini had nine service points against Manteca, Charlie Swickard was also outstanding with five service points and two aces. Brown and Costa each added one block, Rose had three aces among her five service points.
"Manteca played great defense, to their credit," said Laugero. "We just served really well that night and the girls continued to fight, every time they passed, it brought up our level of play...I'm really very proud of them."
The JV girls will host Orestimba today, Wednesday, Sept. 8 and then open up Trans-Valley League play on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Hilmar.
