Preseason volleyball action continues for Lady Cougars

On the road at Central Catholic this past week, the Escalon varsity volleyball girls took on the host Raiders in the Foundation Game on Aug. 20.

“This is a match that is just a scrimmage and does not count as a contact game,” noted head coach Shay Beam. “Overall we did all right; I think our girls came away with knowing that we need to work on a few different aspects of the game.”

It was a good learning experience, the coach added, and set the team up for a solid week of preparation.

“Since that match we have been focused in the gym and working on getting better and more comfortable on the court,” Beam explained.

The Foundation Game was for the varsity only.

All three levels, freshmen, JV and varsity, were scheduled to host Amador on Aug. 27 in the EHS gym and then travel to Merced for preseason contests on Thursday, Aug. 29. Freshmen start at 5 p.m., JV at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
