Action will continue for several members of the Escalon cross country program, following a standout effort at the Saturday, Nov. 9 subsection meet.
Hosted at Frogtown in Angels Camp, the event saw half of the Escalon runners qualify for the Section competition in Folsom, set for Saturday, Nov. 16.
“Victoria Calderon qualified as an individual in Varsity girls Division 4,” said head coach Arend Jones. “The freshman/sophomore girls qualified as a team in D4 with Leigh Garside leading the Cougars.”
Also, the sophomore boys qualified to move on as a team in D4 with Kenneth Vargas leading the way for the squad, and the freshman boys move on as a team to the Section meet, paced by the 10th place overall showing of Alexander Girardi.
Calderon qualified as the 10th individual runner to the Section meet for the varsity girls, turning in a time of 23:08 on the varsity course. Girardi, on the two-mile frosh course, turned in a time of 12:34.
